ABOUT KEN COOPER

Ken Cooper is a long-time resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, living here his entire life. Ken attended Canyon High School and College of the Canyons, completing his Bachelors Degree from California State Fullerton in 2000. After graduating college, Ken joined Medtronic Diabetes in 2000 and has been working there ever since. Ken started in Quality as a technician helping diabetic patients with their insulin pumps and glucose sensors. Ken then joined Clinical Research, droving investigational clinical trials using an implantable insulin pump and glucose sensor, traveling the country and working with endocrinologists and surgeons. Ken then joined Research and Development as a Scientist, working on groundbreaking glucose sensor technology, ultimately leading to the world’s first real-time glucose monitor. 

After working in R&D, Ken joined Operations as a manager, driving the high volume manufacturing of glucose sensors. In 2014, Ken transferred to Puerto Rico on a special assignment for 12 months, taking his family with him. Upon his return to Santa Clarita, Ken continued his work at Medtronic, growing the diabetes business and introducing cutting edge technology globally, in the pursuit of treating diabetes and betterment of public health. 

Ken is currently a Senior Director of Engineering in Operations, responsible for New Product Introduction, Advanced Manufacturing, and Critical Supplier Management. Ken holds sixteen patents with his company, specific to electrochemistry, algorithms, nanostructures, chemical and biomedical engineering. He has authored six articles in diabetes related publication, ranging from glucose sensor technology integration, hyperbaric chamber use, and in-vivo membrane integrity. Ken lives with his 11 year old son, Jack, who attends Plum Canyon Elementary School.

Ken has seen the Santa Clarita Valley flourish over the last 47 years and believes that Water Quality, Reliability, and Conservation are crucial to sustain our growth rate and maintain the high quality of life our residents of the Santa Clarita Valley demand.
